What is Temporary Work Permit?

Temporary work permit is based on Labour Market Impact Assessments. Temporary work permit are two types of work permits: open work permits and employer-specific work permits.

2. Permanent and Skilled Based Work Permit.

1. Federal Skilled Worker Program.

As of 1st Jan 2015, F.S.Worker applications are being processed through the Express Entry immigration selection system for immigration to Canada. Employee eligible under the F.S.W.Class must first make an expression of interest in immigrating to CA by creating an O.E.E Profile.

2. Federal Skilled Trades Program.

From 2015, eligible candidates for the F.S.T.Class (formerly the F.S.T.Program) must make an expression of interest in immigrating to CA through the Express Entry selection system for immigration to CA.

3. Canadian Experience Class.

C.E.Class applications are processed through the Express Entry selection system for immigration to Canada.The Canadian Experience Class (CEC) is an immigration category for C.F.Workers who wish to become permanent residents.

3. Open Work Permit.

Under CIR, foreign spouses and C-l.P of T.F.Ws and foreign students, who themselves want to work in CA, will need an open work permit. Open work permits are also available through the P.G.W.P.Program for international students.

The holder of an O.W.Permit can work for any Canadian employer, without first having a confirmed offer of employment. An open work permit is not job-specific.

Open work permits may be applied for by:

  1. The spouses or common-law partners of F.T.W
  2. The spouses or common-law partners of F.S.
  3. International students who have graduated from a Canadian P.S.I.
